Hello Trish,

the only reason I thought the marriage may have taken place in London was because I looked on the IGI for Astwood which you mentioned. The reason for looking up that was if I found something there then I would look up Astwood Parish register. Just saw on the IGI the marriage of John Timbs to Deborah in 1797 at St Martins in the Fields. Probably not the one you are after as Elizabeth baptised in July 1797 and the marriage December 1797.
Sorry to have caused confusion........I do enough of that for myself.!! If I can help with anything else, if not too much will do so after Christmas,

Bye Susan

Re:  John Timms 1758, married to Deborah Luck 1760.  Assuming he did marry Deborah Luck, then their marriage could have taken place in Lambeth, now London; 04 November 1784.  This information comes from a transcription of a document which isn't shown and transcription errors are rife.  Maybe the location is wrongly transcribed?  However, the London location is still quite possible without there being an error.

Re John Timms 1758, married 1784; just found a Parish Registry entry which confirms the Lambeth venue for the marriage.  The entry, in the form of a certificate, mentions the partners as being "of this parish" (Lambeth).  Still possible it's right because people moved to where work was available and did so frequently.

See attached for the entry in the parish register of Lambeth St Mary. One of the witnesses, James Singleton, appears as a witness on other marriages so was probably an official. The other witness, John William Vandervoren, baptised children in Holborn, and may have been baptised in 1746 in St Martin in the Fields, and doesn't seem to have a Bedfordshire connection.

The names are right, the timing is right, the place is wrong. The best that can be said is that it might be.
