Hi johnmorriss,

I don't know if there's any link...but I have a James Phillips, born Pembroke 1864, who married my Grandmother's sister, Sarah Anne Rees in Swansea in 1887.

I've found them on the 1891 Census for Wales living in Brynforgan Terrace, Llangyfelach, with their children Evan Rees Phillips & David Phillips.

Romilly.

I dont have a connection with your Phillips family, but do enjoy collecting data & old photos of Lower Town as I was born there. I live close so if there are any more people or buildings or graves that you want researched in the vicinity-please let me know.

Hi hhughes,

Thats a very kind offer.

I would like to know more about the James Phillips, born Pembroke 1864, who I mentioned in my previous post. (He was my Great Uncle by marriage).

I have now been able to establish that James Phillips died (aged 42yrs) in Pembroke in 1906, and that his widow, Sarah Ann Phillips arrived in New York, USA in May 1907, with her sons David and William George Phillips.

Her other sons, Evan Rees Phillips and John Phillips joined them in 1910, & the family lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

I would imagine that James Phillips would have been buried in Pembroke, but I don't have any details.

Cheers, Romilly.

Hello John,

It's been some time since you posted the query but Daniel and Ann moved to Merthyr in c1860. They had several more children after William. One, Maria was born in 1860. She went on to marry Evan Evans who is my great grandfather. Ann died in 1867 and Daniel in 1881.

I can not find any reference to a Daniel Phillips baptised at Fishguard circa 1815, however I have found a Daniel Phillips baptised at Llanlawer in 1815, Family Search website confirms my findings but mis-spells the parish by adding an ‘n’ to the end.
As you will see the parents are shown as William & Ann Phillips who probably mrd at Llanlawer in 1812 when William Phillip mrd Anne Vittle.
I suspect Levi Thomas was baptised at Llanychaer in 1815 and James Phillips was baptised at Fishguard in 1815.
