Daisy Waller Stephen-Music Teacher, Chicago

I have only recently discovered that Daisy was a Music Teacher at the Cosmopolitan School of Music in Chicago for 50 years 1905-1955ish, and would love to find out more about her.  I can't find the Cosmopolitan School of Music on the web.  Has anyone any ideas?

Year of Immigration:  1881 (naturalized) I realize this makes no sense but mum's yeaar of immigration is 1881 and she is naturalized as well!!!  Something doesn't add up!!!

Hello - thank you for that information, so her husband was in the music industry also.  She wasn't born till 1886 in England (I've got a brith certificate) so I think it was about 1888 that they went to the US.  I was hoping I could may be contact the School of Music and see what info they had got on her.

I've done some searching and so far cannot find evidence of the School still being in existence.  ALtho I can't find out when it closed or if it was taken over by another school or if it changed names!!  Hmmmm......!!!  But there are more than a few references to it in various bios found online.  Even as late at the 1960's+ it was still in operation.  I'm perplexed!!!!  Hopefully someone from Chicago will come along with all the answers

If you google ' "Cosmopolitan School of Music" Chicago' quite a few entries come up, so it must have been quite well known. It might have merged with another school, closed or changed name. Perhaps if you e-mail a library in Chicago they will be able to send you contact details or dates when it operated.

Hi - Thanks Jean and aghedowey for all your efforts.  Its frustrating isn't it i've searched and even the public libraries in Chicago, of which there are numerous, seem as if they don't want you to contact them, I haven't managed to find an e-mail address anywhere.

Daisy Waller was the teacher of my wife’s teacher in the 1930s.  At the Auditorium Building at Congress and Michigan Ave.  now Roosevelt University.  Dave
