Hi Moira - what a kind offer - and can I take you up on it ....??

JOSEPH STAFFORD was born c1795 in New Mills, Derbyshire - the date and place come from the 1861 census when he was living in Salford.

Joseph married Charlotte Metcalfe/Medcalfe 22 February 1818 in Glossop; their first child appears to have been baptised in Mellor - James on 30 July 1820.

I have not been able to find anything on the IGI - and as yet, have not persuaded my husband to have a holiday in Derbyshire!

Best wishes

Barbara

Hi Moira,

I would appreciate a lookup for Eckington, Derbys. The names are Isaac Fretwell born 1798 and John Fretwell born 1796 (both are close approximations).  I did check some of the records from the LDS but as yet have had no luck. These are my husbands ancestors.

Regards and thanks,

Doris

Hi.

I have some transcribed Eckington baptisms and there are no FRETWELLS baptised at Eckington in this time frame.

Kind Regards
Tuppie

Hi Tuppie,

Many thanks, do you know if there are any other records that have not been indexed, the place of birth was clearly given as Eckington both in the censuses and military records.

Is there any other area locally that folk would have travelled to for baptisms?

Thanks again,

Doris
