Thomas Henfrey Melton Mowbray c1700
« on: Monday 12 March 07 12:06 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for Thomas Henfrey or Thomas Henfry who married Catherine and whose daughter Elizabeth married Will Tinson in Melton Mowbray (see post for Will Tinson).  Thomas's children Eliz 14/11/1730, Catharine 19/2/1735 and Sarah 23/3/1731 were all born in Melton Mowbray but I cannot find anything about Thomas or his wife Catherine.

HI Wozzle

Many thanks for your reply, I've been looking for ages for any info on this family without any success, Great Dalby seems a hard place to find info on it's the same with the Watchorn  family that the descendents of Henry married into via the Arnsby family, still it could be worse I could be looking for John Smith ;D

Yours Julie

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply, I know names can change so much from one generation to the next, I seem to have a speciallity in ancestors that are missing from the IGI George Matthews 1809 in Lincs, Olivia Wurswick 1840's from Lancs, William Boddy 1809(1809 is a bad year for me ;D) from Pickering to name but a few, all down for marriages but no sign of a birth anywhere.  There is a Thomas Henfrey who married around 1690 in Melton Mowbray who would sound like the ideal candidate to be my Thomas Henfrey's father but as we are talking about the days before census returns there is very little to connect the two together apart from the same name, same town and right era if only family history was that simple his father will turn out to have a completely different christian name and come from the other side of the country knowing my luck ::)

Thanks for replying.

Yours Julie

Hi Mike

Many thanks for all the info on the Henfrey/Skerritt and Watchorn families.  I think there must have been either a shortage of work or for the ag lab workers on the farms perhaps a drought/poor land around that area as by the mid 19th century most of the descendants of the Henfrey and Watchorn  families  (Arnsby/Lyon and Matthews) on my tree had strayed across the border into Skillington in Lincolnshire via Coston in Leicestershire.

Yours Julie
