Hi Bob

I'm sorry to hear that.  I had wondered.  She had a great input to Rootschat via you.  Looks like she doesn't intend to stop!

I wonder if there's any link to the Greenops in the Caldbeck area?

I hope things went as well as they could.

Best wishes

Emms :)

Bob

I have Greenops in my family tree. Specifically John born 1818 in Langdale who was a labourer at the gunpowder works. He was married to Mary Kirkby who was something like me GGG aunt i think! They had 12 children.
Do you need to know anything in particular?
Corinne
Hi Corinne - I have Greenops in my family too; the same Greenops = John Greenop and Mary Kirkby (m. 27-May-1843 at Grasmere).

John died in the Elterwater Powder Works explosion. They had 10 children:
William, Margaret, Sarah, Agnes, John, Henry, Robert, Edward, Jonathan & Richard.

I'm descended from Margaret Greenop. She married Joseph Bainbridge. They had two children = Mary Jane and John.  I'm descended from Mary Jane, who married John Hornby. They emigrated to Tasmania with their two girls Grace and Margaret (my grandmother).

Attached is a photo of Margaret Bainbridge (nee Greenop).

I'm keen to get more details of this Greenop line.  Which one are you descended from?

Margaret Bainbridge

Margaret Bainbridge was the sister of my grandfather Richard.  I have been trying to get into contact with you for some time now.  You or one of your relatives was in contact several years ago with a cousin of mine in Australia but unfortunately we lost contact.  I would welcome the opportunity to exchange information.

Hi Frank.  So your Richard Greenop was married to Sarah Eleanor Backhouse? If so, I have a photo of him and his 3 eldest children.  Also, a photo of Sarah and children after she became a widow (probably on the day of Richard's funeral). I also have an "In Memoruim" card from his funeral.  I'm happy to supply scanned copies to you.

I find this site quite difficult to understand, so you could email me directly at 'rowland5[at]bigpond[dot]net[dot]au. Hope you can see this address.

Hello there everybody. I was just trying to find out things about my father and his relatives. My dad was called John Edward Greenop, and his mother and father were Jon(athon) and Mary. They lived in Millom. The thing that I found of real interest though is the relevance between my name and the subject you are talking about! Richard
