Popping my own balloon here! The marriage of Janet Fleming and William Graham is too early to be any of the Janet's I have just posted:


14/02/1784   GRAHAM   WILLIAM   JANNET FLIEMING/   M   Dowally   /PERTH   344/ 0010 0216

Maybe the OPR entry might contain the name of Janet's father at least or name of witnesses that might be relevant?

... I really am off to bed now! Just wanted to say, that the John Fleming and Margaret Fleming entry look good. Their children, with Janet looking to be their first born after their marriage:

1. JANNAT FLEEMING Christening: 03 NOV 1754 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
2. MARGRATT FLEEMING Christening: 14 MAR 1756 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
3. ISOBELL FLEEMING Christening: 02 SEP 1758 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
4. JOHN FLEEMING  Christening: 23 AUG 1761 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
5. WILLIAM FLEEMING  Birth: 06 SEP 1767/ Christening: 08 SEP 1767 Dowally, Perth, Scotland

If this is the correct Janet (and John's family) she would have been around 30 at the time of her marriage to William Graham, not unreasonable.

You know Monica,  now that I have showed my hand here at Rootschat all the other Fleming researchers too cheap to pay or lend a hand will get all my hard to come by info for free!!   This might finally be the key backwards!!

Wide awake now  ;) and closing off on the detail on the 1841 Census with brother James Graham. Certainly the 'extra' children on the 1841 entry I posted would look to be James's children together with his wife Jean Douglas:

1. WILLIAM GRAHAM Birth: 06 MAY 1816/ Christening: 12 MAY 1816 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
2. JEAN GRAHAM  Birth: 22 JUL 1818/ Christening: 24 JUL 1818 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
3. JAMES GRAHAM Christening: 21 JAN 1821 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
4. JOHN GRAHAM  Christening: 30 NOV 1823 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
5. JANET GRAHAM Christening: 30 DEC 1827 Dowally, Perth, Scotland
6. HELEN GRAHAM Christening: 08 APR 1831 Dowally, Perth, Scotland

The naming order supports parents for James Snr. of William and Janet.

James Snr. may have died by 1851, these look like the 3 children who show in 1841 in the 1851 Census, all the Grahams born in Dowally:

John Graham    27, Farmer (of 30 Acres Employing 3 Labrs
Helen Graham    20, sister
Janet Graham    23, sister
James Rattray    16
John Reid    13

I am in process of tracing my family tree. I just happened to google Croftdavid in Dowally where my great great gran parents (William & Elspeth Graham came from and I noticed your forum search also. How interesting. What relation do you think they were to you?
