I knew a McGowan family who lived in Plains near Airdrie, Lanarkshire.
"Whitey" McGowan (everyone in Plains had a nickname) played football for Airdrie
football Club. The family are mentioned in the book "The Lost Villages" when they
lived in Whiterigg as Coal Miners.

James.
