« on: Monday 29 November 04 21:09 GMT (UK) »
Samuel Harrison, his wife Elizabeth abd children appear on the 1971 census for Salford Lancashire.

By 1891 census Elizabeth is a widow.  How do I find out when he died? I am lost   ???

Help us to help you. What were the children's names that you know of. What age do you think Samuel and Elizabeth were in 1871? I can see several Samuel Harrisons around the censuses, even a Samuel with a wife Elizabeth, Salford 1881.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

Thank you all for yourhelp.

I have found Elizabeth on the 1891 census a widow living with her daughter Mary Ellen and husband.

Just can't find a reference to Sams death anywhere.

If that is your Elizabeth on the 1881 census, then that narrows down the possibilities of Samuel's death from 20 years to 10 years (between 1871 and 1881). You could try www.1837online.com, though there is a charge for searching there.
