Dodds/Dods Sprouston/Kelso

Does anyone have any info re John Brown Dodds born 1859 Sprouston my gggrandfather his  mother was Helen (Ellen) Dodds (dods) born circa1835 Kelso area  Her father was James Dodds circa 1800 an agricultural labourer in the Kelso area (Spylaw) and his father was James dodds (Muserig/Musrig) Kelso any info on siblings of any of these generations of my family would be very very welcome I have just discovered my Scottish roots and am very keen to flesh them out

Thanks Ive done that and come to a full stop hoping someone out there will get me moving again John Brown Dodds married Helen shiels from Sprouston in Berwick on Tweed in 1892 when he was living in Scremerston North Northumberland with his mother and his stepfather James Thompson (Thomson) a blacksmith born in 1841 from Kelso Sprouston and his stepbrother James born 1869 and stepsister Elizabeth born 1874. Helen Dodds father was James who married Mary oliver who died he then married Elizabeth Brown who was the daughter of another hired servant (Hind) on Spylaw Farm Kelso. James father was also called James according to James marriage cert and he was a hind in Muesrig (Musrig) Kelso

Have you been in contact with any Family History Societies in the area, they may have transcribed Parish Records with Baptisms etc

 When i first read your post i thought you were on the same family as me but
 when i read it properly i found that the names are the same but mine are in
 late 1600's to early 1700's in the same area.
 I have James Dodds[Dods] b c1684 ,wife Margaret Sibbald bC1686
   CHILDREN
  Thomas b 1713
  Helen b 1716
  Alexander b 1719
  Margaret b 1722
  James b 1723
 I may have another step back
 James Dodds b 1684  Father Alexander Dodds Mother Hellen Gae at Duns
 which is also nearby but i haven't confirmed this one yet.

Thanks I have saved your reply I am really struggling to get back past James in 1800 so I cant see any connections yet. The Dodds (Dods) strand does not appear to be very clear and I keep going up blind alleys thinking I have made a breakthrough then finding out I have the wrong Dodds
