Carrington & Golding, where are they..
« on: Wednesday 18 April 07 10:04 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I know that someone on this listing will be able to help as so many have helped me in the past.

I have a solid brick wall that I want to pull down.

I have a Lydia GOLDING  born 1831 at Oakington, CAMS.   She married one  William CARRINGTON on the 30 Mar 1852 at Oakington CAMS.  Then zilch....

Nothing else has been found re the above couple.  Can anyone please see if they can find them on the 1861 census anywhere, not just in Cambridge, as I have searched the 1861 census for Cambridge on the CFHS site.  I have also tried various spellings of the name Carrington/Corrington/Currington/Carinngton etc etc... no luck.

Thank you

regards Lynn

Hi Joe,

Not sure what year he was born but on the marriage details it says he is a labourer from Cottenham and his father is also William Carrington.  Perhaps give or take several years from Lydia's birth of 1831

Thanks Lynn

Nope, can not find any children either.  I have also checked for a death of Lydia Carrington or William Carrington to see if they may have remarried, but no, not there either.

Mystery, hey....

Have you considered emigration?

Ancestry family trees show two entries for Lydia Golding born 1830 Oakington/ Cambridge to Edward Golding and Maria Gee. Neither tree has a marriage for her, but her father and at least one brother emigrated to Australia in 1852.

Hello Gallium

Thank you, but that is not the Lydia Golding I am after.  I know of that one.  Her parents were Edward Golding and Maria Gee.  She married a William Carrington in Oakington 1852 and then they vanished.  They did not come to Australia with all the rest of the family, this included 3 lots of families, Edward Golding & Maria Gee, Stephen Golding & Frances GEE, & My lot, John Thulborn & Eliza Gee. Oh I forgot and their brother George Gee.  I am concentrating on finding them in USA at the moment as that seems to be the only place left to search.

Thank you for your time.

Hi, I'm new to RootsChat but was looking up the Gee family as I've found a first cousin 6 times removed was Eliza Gee (born 1819 Longstanton, Cambridgeshire) who married John Thurlbone (born 1817 in Oakington). They came to Australia and lived in South Australia. The Thurlbone name seemed to change to Thurlborn here.  Eliza's parents were James Gee and Susannah Malling. I live in New South Wales, Australia and I'm a descendent of James Bright and Elizabeth Gee. Their son Robert Bright married Mary Goulding/Croker in Tasmania, Australia . When I have a chance I can look up some of the names of those who came to Australia if you like. I volunteer at our local museum . I'm on Ancestry, FTDNA & GEDmatch. regards,Sue
