Looking for any information on John Kane from Longford. He moved to Monaghan and was a Customs Officer there. Any ideas

Hello wild_thistle,

What denomination was John Kane, and when was he in Longford and Monaghan?
The parishes and townlands where he settled in those counties would also assist
in the search. By the way was a member of the Murphy family John's wife?

Thank you for replying to my post. Yes john Kane was married to Gertrude Murphy. He was born 20 Nov 1894 in Longford. His father was Michael Kane from Ballagh Newtownforbes. His mother was Elizabeth Feeney (not sure where she came from).
Gertude was born 3 Jan 1907 in a place called Kilnasaggart, Armagh. She died 18 May 1974. john died 31 july 1967

1911 and 1901 Irish census records are gradually being put online and you will be able to search for both families if you haven't already found them there. See National Archives site for information and updates (list of what order counties are to be added under 'future plans'):

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
