According to the Oxford Dictionary, it's from Old English and means 'dweller at the cleared woodland'. But someone coming to the UK could have changed their surname from something that sounded similar.

There are some Reddell 's buried in the cemetery in Sudbury Suffolk, England. Across the road from the cem was a factory owned by the Cortaulds group called W T Reddell.

It is long gone now and houses replaced it.

Thank you for your information, I am awaiting a death certificate, hopefully the place of birth will be there.  I noticed you have TUCKER in your family, would you have a William TUCKER b. 1800.

Most of my Tucker's are from Kent, England. As yet no William. What area are you looking at for your Tuckers ???

Thank you, William TUCKER stated he was from Dartmouth on the marriage register, not necessarily born there. Having trouble finding his parents and siblings.

Yogi
If it's an English death cert you have ordered, they don't give birth dates, years. They are on the birth registers if the birth is before registration.Once you know the age at death. You might possibly find the Christening on the I.G.I=
International Geographical Index on Family search.
