Towns in Denbigh in 1894
« on: Tuesday 09 March 04 04:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everone, ;D

Does anyone know where I can find a site that lists town in Denbigh in 1894?

I can only make out the first part of the town written in an 1894 letter I have in my possession.
All I can make out is Pont Carreg, Llan or maybe Llar.. ???

Sorry I can't be of anymore help. :(

Cheers

Hello Tassie,

Is it possible for you to use a scanner and attach a picture of that part of the letter to look at so that we have a look at the handwriting?

"Llan" is probably the most likely spelling - it is a common start to Welsh place names which means "Church" as you've probably found out by now!

Tassie

It could be that Pont Carreg is not a village. The Llan place is probably the Vilage/Parish and PC within it's area

Still thinking where I've seen it

Oh, forgot to mention "Pont Carreg" means "Stone Bridge" in Welsh. You can send in your scanned image to webmaster @ rootschat . co . uk
