MacIntosh BD&M lookup please SA
« on: Thursday 17 May 07 15:52 BST (UK) »
On this lovely showery evening, hello  :) :)

I am seeking help to find information pertaining to Peter (Mayor (?)) MacIntosh and Ronald McKenzie MacIntosh.

I believe Peter was born in Gourock in 1889 and Ronald in Glasgow in 1918.

I know only that they emigrated to South Australia. As yet I have not established when either of them arrived on our shores and/or whether they were married in Scotland or in South Australia.

Cheers

Elsie

hello  there

are they father and son or brothers?

ther is a record on the NAA for Peter Mayor(mayo) MacIntosh that you may have seen  but it shows him enlisting in the Naval Reserve in 1924 and then  shows him dying in 1940

Ronald(died 29/8/1991 aged 73) is buried/cremated in Centennial Park in the same grave is Peter Mayor  but it doesn't have a year for his death and has his age at 0

also in the same grave is Catherine aged 88 died 10/10/1976

and in the records for CEntennial Park  is  ANDREW MACKENZIE MACINTOCSH died 23/9/1989 aged 42

Hi

There are a number of MacIntosh names on the Government Gazette and Personal notices in the Advertiser index on the following site.  Ronald's death in 1991 is listed in the Personal Notices in the Advertiser.

More info from the SAGHS.

Hello Jen and Cando!  :)

Thank you both for your assistance.

Peter and Ronald are father and son, Jen. NAA site was fantastic. Cando I think I might contact SA library and see if I can obtain a transcript of the notices.

From the NAA I learnt that Ronald married Marjorii. I am uncertain whether her surname was Black or Grace. Grace could have been the middle name of course. Is there a death date available for her please?

Elsie

Hi Elsie, my sister came across this thread today while she was doing some research on our father Ronald MacIntosh’s war records. I know this is over ten years old now, but I’m fascinated as to your research and as to what you have found on the MacIntosh family history, your interest in and connection to it and how I might be of any help to you? There’s a book on the Clan Mackintosh that might be of interest to you as well. Thank you, Alistair

Hello Alistair73!

Thank you for your posting.

I have followed the link posted by Spike H (thanks Spike) ... Alistair, am I correct in my reading of the tree that you and your sister are SA descendents of Peter and Ronald with links back to Boreray, Scotland?

With a smile.

Elsie
