Hi Jeannie, the info certainly does help it tally's with the info i already have, although i think i have the 2 of the children down as aged 3 & 4, rather than 4 & 5, but that's not a problem as the names address etc all fit exactly into the jigsaw.
All i need to find out now is if the 2 children were living at the same address, 45, higher sheffield street Ardwick, manchester between 1914 and 1918, if they did then the 2 soldiers i'm trying to research are most certainly my great uncles.

cheers JEANNIE, EXCELLENT!!

My husband's great uncle  is also buried in France  from
from world war one,   when we wanted info on him   we went to our local council  in the town he came from,  and they were very helpful,  and sent us all his details  and when he died,  and where he is buried in France, we found he also has his name up on the memoriam   in the war department  in the
New  Zealand  museum

Ticker, how are you? a Leeds fan?, well we all have our cross to bear i suppose ;D

On a more serious note, you say thay the free BMD did not have anything for Arthur Warburton, so it's a slight possible
that it may be the relation i'm looking for?.
If i may explain a little, and would appreciate your view on what i have found.
My grandfather and his brothers were born in manchester.
my grandfather was to young to enlist in the army, but i'm trying to find out if his brothers did.  At the outbreak of war his brothers Charles and Arthur would have been 16 and 17.
i have no idea if any of them enlisted or died in the war.
But today i came across an A. and a C. Warburton.
'A.' Warburton enlisted in 1915 and died of wounds in 1917.
'C' Warburton enlisted in 1917 and survived, and they both have the same address, higher sheffield street, Ardwick, manchester, and my own father was born and brought up in Ardwick.
What's the chances of them being my granfathers brothers?

cheers Ticker

jim

Sorry for the delay in replying Jim.  Too upset about yesterday's result!  ;D

Sound like almost definites to me Jim for your Arthur and Charles.  Hopefully some of the other suggestions made will help you to absolutely confirm it.

Good luck

super Leeds!!!! ;D

Hi Ticker, the signs look very good for the 2 brothers,
but untill i find out who their parents were, it's still not 100%, so close yet so far, just need to confirm that his parents were james and Isabella or that they lived at  45, sheffield street in Ardwick.

cheers Ticker

Will This help?

!901 Census

Isabella Warburton wife 28 born Manchester

Arthur Warburton Son 5 born Manchester

Charles Warburton son 4 born Manchester

Address 12 Chapel Street, St Andrews Parish, Manchester

At least this will give you arough idea of the boys ages.

I will look for their birth details, at least with those you will have more details of what you are looking for.

Hi jeannie, sorry to bother you like this, just wondered if you had any look with the date of births for the boys.

Hi everyone, sorry to be such a pain, Jeannie and Casalguidi very kindly gave me info on the 1901 census
with regards to Arthur and Charles Warburton.

On the census from Jeannie it says Arthur aged 5 and charles aged 4

on the census from casalguidi it says arthur is 3 and charles is 4.

if jeannie or casalguidi would be good enough to confirm
the ages sent, would be very grateful.

cheers
