1851 Scotland Lookup Andrew COMMON

Could someone with access to the 1851 Scotland Census please look this up for me.

Andrew COMMON born about 1793, and living with his wife Agnes (possibly Agnes CURL) in Dumfriesshire during the 1851 census.

I am hoping to confirm any relatives, but need to confirm both birthplaces before asking about 1841 census details, which should show some children with him.

I am currently thinking their children are:
Andrew 1815, Robert ? & Walter 1817.

Thanks for that info, Karenlee.

It seems that it may the the wrong one, for me, after all.

The wifes age does not agree with the first born that I have of 16th Jan 1815.  That would make her only 14 at the time of sons birth.  Andrew, the father, would have been 22.


I've just checked my earlier info, and I have the Father and Mother being Andrew & Agnes Common, with the first child being Andrew Common born Jan 1815 in Roxburgh, and death at age 80 in qtr 1, 1896.

It appears there may be two Andrew Common's married to an Agnes in the area at about that time.

I may have the area wrong though, as this one may have stayed in Roxburgh ?

Unfortunately, I can't trace via the son, Andrew Common 1815, as he was married and living in England by 1841.

Just wondering if this is relevant or if you have this information from the Roxburgh: Melrose Parish Register.

The following are the children of Andrew Common, labourer, and Agnes Curle in Gattonside.
John, born 28 Jul 1808, baptised 25 Sep 1808.
Grisel, born 22 Nov 1810, baptised 03 Feb 1811.
Margaret, born 24/10/1812, baptised 27 Dec 1812.
Andrew, born 16 Jan 1815, baptised 20 Aug 1815.

If my last message is relevant then it links with an 1841 census record for Agnes Common born 1786 married to an Andr. [sic] also born 1786. Living with them are another Agnes born 1820 [their daughter?] and Andr. Curle [father?] born 1756.

That's great thanks, it sure looks like the family I am looking for.

The names are right, and the birth of Andrew, on 16 Jan 1815 is correct.

Did that register give the birth dates, and places, of the parents ?
Is the register online ?

That's all the information there was.

Just a suggestion re. the 1851 census there's an Andrew [born 1874 Hobkirk Roxburgh] a Farmer Of 405 Acres. Living with him are his brother Adam [born 1782 Farmer Hobkirk];
his sister[in-law?] born 1786 Hobkirk she's the housekeeper; and another Adam [his nephew] born 1825 Newcastleton Roxburg.

One more thing there's a marriage for Andrew on 17/1/1808 at Melrose. No details of the bride!
