Hi Andrew,

Wasn't it Ruth's mother Jane who had a husband John Nicholson?  ???

Now indeed I see a Ruth Nicholson with a husband John as well. Here she is in 1881:

Hi Andrew,

According to the Yorkshire BMD http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/cgi/marrind.cgi
John Nicholson married Ruth Farrand at Doncaster Register Office in 1875 just in case you want to order the certificate for £7 via the site or this link should take you to the application page DON/9/156

There also baptism and deaths on the site but not so easy to judge if they might be yours.

Sheila.
