Ebbesborne Wake
« on: Sunday 05 December 04 10:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone, :D

I'm looking for some background history on the village of Ebbesborne Wake.

I can find very little on the net except a picture of the church and the fact that there were less people there in 1951 than in 1851.

I'd love a bit of advise as to where I can apply for some local history on the area.

I usually find the best way to turn up stuff on places I've never heard of is just to Google it and see what comes out. Found this for you on this site:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WIL/EbbesbourneWake/

"Ebbesbourne Wake through the ages" is a book written and published (2nd edn 2003) by Peter Meers, Dial Cottage, Ebbesbourne Wake, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5 5JF

I knew a kind RootsChatter would fine the answer for me.

I actually looked at that page on Genuki but obviously didn't read to right to the bottom.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.

My pleasure. Sounds like you do what I do when Googling, quick scan then on to the next one. Which reminds me, West Lavington...

 Hi Again Liam, ;D

yes that's me - miss what's right in front of my eyes.

I tried for the book here in Oz and on a few book sites but no luck.

I've got Graceland on the job in Gloucestershire as if he doesn't do enough for me with the grave transcriptions!

He will make enquiries tomorrow and get back to me.

Thanks again for your help.
