On this site www.curiousfox.com/history_S/roxburghshire. Not one that I use, I think you need to register (not sure if free or paid for) to then be able to email the person who posted the message.

I wonder if more than Elizabeth came back from Australia. Or indeed if it was the whole family that went over including parents?

mtyler, if you try doing some google searches you might find another couple of avenues to follow up the Young line. Googling for "adam young" +roxburgh +genealogy for example brings up this:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tinlin/A.htm

Ann Tinline.  Born 7 May 1801 in Crailing, Roxburghshire, daughter of William and Elizabeth (White) Tinline [reg.].  She married Adam Young [reg.].  He was born c. 1796-1801 in Roxburghshire [cen.].  He was a blacksmith in Nisbet, Crailing, Roxburghshire [reg., her death cert.].  They were living in Nisbet from 1823-40 [reg.].  In 1841 they were living in Crailing, and he was working as a blacksmith [cen.].  She died 27 Jul 1883 in Nisbet, Crailing, age 82 [cert.].  He survived her [her death cert.].

I'll check the 1861 census onwards to see if I can see Adam and Anne. You might find that it was only some of their older children (large family!) that went over to Australia (I'm having a problem finding Elizabeth b. 1830 in the 1851 Census at the moment although I can see Adam and Ann with some of the younger children in Nisbet).

I did recheck the 1900 Illinois census and Elizabeth Young Gillies states she was born in Scotland in March 1830 which matches the data from the IGI you sent. Thanks for all your help and I am checking out those links you sent
