My grandfather would have known them very well as he lived at 151.  The council began the task of rebuilding the area in the 1930's , I believe, and blocks of flats built taking up half of the street.

And my gg grandparents William Richard Hugh Paul (a Ropemaker) and his wife Margaret (nee Cope) lived at 147 Eastfield Street with their eleven (known) children, including my g grandfather Richard Henry (Harry) Paul (1875 - 1965), a one-time English boxing champion.

Little did they all know that their descendants would be taking such a great interest in their lives almost 150 years later.
