There seem to be quite a few grandchildren that might be worth investigating. In addition to John, there's Janet and Jane - 1880-1  born 4 months apart at St Mungo.

hi pal, nae credit left for scottishpeople, guess what? there is a marriage showing up for all parishes between 1/1/1839 and 31/12/1841 for john telfer married to a davidson? what do you think?

Janet Margaret Telfer, born October 1880, Longhill Cottage. Mother Janet Telfer.

Informant in both case was janet Telfer, grandmother.

Not sure if I can find the 1901 ownership out easily, Joe.  I'll see.
