Glass Engraver & Manufacturer
« on: Sunday 03 June 07 12:21 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information about Messers Hauptman Albert & Co who were Glass Manufacturers, Engravers and Chandelier makers in Leith or Edinburgh from 1860s until at least 1891.

The Hauptman family came from Bohemia and seem to have set up a business, how do I find the location or any documents about the partnership?

Irene,

Trade directories may help.  As for documents you would need to get a public archives and search through them.  YOu could also try A2A and search that?

Hi Irene,

I don't know about the business, but could this be "your" Hauptman  ?

Naturalisation Papers: Hauptman, Ignatz, from Bohemia. Certificate 2497 issued 29 July 1857.

found in The National Archives

That is great information, I am actually looking for Ignatz's brother (and I think business partner) Franz or Francis Hauptman, also his daughter Elizabeth who was also born in Bohemia but in later census returns is recorded as British Subject.  How do I find this kind of information?
