Hi Sgone :)

Do you mean the Joshua that married Martha Rickhards on the 16 Jan 1796 St Chad, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, ??
( source I.G.I. )  .

I also see this

Joshua Owen

Birth:  About 1777   Of, Dawley Magna, Shropshire, England
 Marriages:
  Spouse:  Mrs. Martha Owen

I also see  some children,

Smethcote Registrum, ab Ao  1612. De Baptizatis.

13 Jul 1796 Ann, d. of Joshua and Martha Owen, of Smethcote Common bap.

02 Sep 1799 Hannah, d. of Joshua and Martha Owen, of Picklescott bap.

The Man is an enigma?

Pete :)

Hello Sogone

I am also researching Joshua and Martha Owen nee Rickhards.  The couple had 9 children following their marriage Ann 13.07.1796 at Smethcott, Hannah 02.09.1799 at Picklescott, Richard 27.11.1803 at Shifnal, John 22.06.1806 died 30.10.1808, Mary 21.08.1808 died 19.03.1809, Jane 13.05.1810, James 1811,  Mary Ann and Martha 23.05.1813 who were at Dawley Magna.   Martha Rickhards already had a base born daughter Elizabeth baptised 19.11.1795 prior to her marriage but considering she married Joshua the following January it is probable Elizabeth was his child also.

Hannah is our direct ancestor she married William Ferriday.

I am struggling to find a baptism for Joshua but know his parents were Ric & Elizabeth Owen as Hannah (witness at his marriage) was baptised at Smethcott and her parents were Ric and Elizabeth.  Have you looked on Melocki Shropshire loads of parish registers on there.

Joshua was a blacksmith and was on the 1841 census, Martha was also on the 1851 census

Eileen

Hello

Martha Rickhards is spelled in many ways her names was Martha Rickard daughter of David and Ann Rickard nee Dayhouse.  I have an actual copy of the Parish register of this marriage from Shropshire Archives and the name spelling on that is debateable.

I don't know why an Aristocrat would post such a negative response it wasn't even helpful as the transcript on Melocki give the parish register.

Hi Eileen

I'm sorry you felt my response was negative - that was not my intention. I merely pointed out the alternative spelling as sometimes it helps you to find people who have been incorrectly enumerated.

I'm sorry you found it unhelpful.
