Thomson - Duntocher
« on: Monday 04 June 07 13:28 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I'm looking for any info on Thomsons in Duntocher. In particular any descendants of my gr-grandfather, John Thomson (b.1877 Duntocher) and gr-grandmother Catherine Muir (b. 1871 Alness, Ross-shire). They had at least 6 children, all born in Duntocher; Allan b. 1900, Isabella b.1902, Alexander b. 1904, Elizabeth b.1906, my grandfather John b.1907, and Robert b.1908. I also know that my dad had an Uncle Roger but I'm unsure if this is another brother or just a nickname for Robert.

The family moved between Duntocher and Hardgate between the early 1800s and the present. My dad still lives in Duntocher but is not aware of any living relations in the Duntocher area now.

Many thanks

Hi,
I just noticed that in 1881 your family was at the Jenny House in Old Mill Brae.  Here is a photo of the old place - it's gone now, I think there are condo's at the site now?? My Stewart family lived there as well.  :)

I forgot to mention - the lady in the picture is my Mother's cousin - Annie McBride.  She's the daughter of James McBride and Emily McLure Stewart.
