I might have found them on the 61 (but the ages are a bit odd)

John Johnson H Mar 29 Chimney Sweep Cheshire Macclesfield
Mary Johnson W Mar 28                             Shrewsbury
Sarah Johnson Lodger Wid 78 Former Laundress Cheshire Bainford?

Possibly John's mother and Sarah's namesake?

Oh no I wanted him to be a boatman but guess he could have gone from a chimneysweep to boatman!

His age could have been mistranscribed in the 81, her age is similiar.  Though Sarah is not with them and would have been about 4yrs so maybe it's not the John I'm looking for.

I've looked at all the Sarah's between 3 and 5 born in Staffs on the 61 and the one with sister Elizabeth in Hanford looks like the only other possibility, unless they were out of county in 61  ;)

So if I go with Sarah living in Hanford with parents and sister, Elizabeth which area of Stafford on bmd would I look in for someone born in Trent Vale?

Can anyone find her in the 71?

Hi
Just a thought - could the boatman be misleading, my g grandfather gave his father's occupation as cattle dealer but on every census he is down as innkeeper. Maybe John had 2 occupations and Sarah chose boatman. Perhaps she preferred the sound of it? :D

hi Valda

Now I'm completely confused because the John and Mary Johnson I found in 81 he was from Cheshire, which Madpants found in 61 as a chimneysweep but with his widowed mother so that doesn't all add up!!

Would you be able to find your John Johnson in 61?  I have to say that seems to be the closest except there is no proof of Sarah.
