Hi Luc

Unless you are fortunate enough that someone recognizes John from their own family tree, it will be hard for people to help out because his birth is likely to be outside the cut off point for on line search for births on Scotlands People (1906).

If you get not response from this post, can I suggest that you take a step back and order his marriage cert. This will include his father's name and John's age. This will help you then look for his birth in Scotland with more precise info. You will have to order details of his birth from the GROS, have a look at this link: www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,193879.0.html

The only death in West Lothian for a male Wallace in 1953 is showing as this one:

1953   WALLACE   ALEXANDER  83   UPHALL   /WEST LOTHIAN   672/00 0179

If you are confident of your dates for John's father's death and also the county as West Lothian, then this could well be his death entry. Original images of certificates are available on the pay to view site of Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. Charges are v. reasonable (£1.20 to search and view BMD images). If you haven't seen any Scottish certs. before, they are very informative and will include this Alexander's wife, including her maiden name, and also his parents' names and who reported the death. It will also show last residence which might tie up with the address you have.

Regards.

Luc

Just as background, Armadale is a town in the Parish of Bathgate, West Lothian (previously Linlithgowshire).

Here is a link to a recent planning application (1995) for a house to be built at 120, South Street, Armadale, Drovemyre.

You will see the applicant is Dr. & Mrs. J.A.K Wallace, South Street, Drovemyre, Armadale, West Lothian.

It would seem that the family is still there.

I did see that entry Mosstrooper  ;)  Just a thought though. Given it so so recent, I'm concerned about posting on line any info that might relate to 'living' people.

Is there anything preventing you from contacting this J.A.K Wallace in Armadale and asking for the information you require?

Hi.  Happened to google my home address and came across this 5 year old thread.  Dr. John Alistair Kennedy Wallace was born Jan 4th 1920 and died July 2003.

Hi Alex03

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Hopefully luc666 will get a notification of your post.

What a great photo of him. I have just reduced the size a little bit so it didn't stretch the page.
