I just checked that with my tree and the dates seem to match up with what I have got. Do you have any other information you can give me? And where did you get that information from? I have been stuck for over a month lol

Malcolm and Archibald both had large families and the cencus returns from 1841 will give you details.
Births & Marriages pre-1855 are in the OPR's and B,M&D's from 1855 are in the Statutory Records.
Births for both families from @ 1840 are not recorded in the OPR.
Alexander was in the Argyle Militia and then in the 79th.Regiment of Foot (Cameron Highlanders).
Militia details were held in the Argyll & Bute Archives, Lochgilphead.
79th. details are held in the National Archives, Kew.

Do you know about the searchable (Excel) Tiree Genealogy website keithdash.net?  It's an excellent source because of being able to find dates and names by using the Edit Find function.

I am researching the family of Alexander Campbell and Catherine MacLean because their son weather-wise son Malcolm warned his son Archibald not to go out fishing on July 7, 1856.  Because Archibald listened, he and the fishermen who would have gone out in his boat were not involved in Tiree's Great Fishing Tragedy of 1856.  For more information, go the Facebook Group
Tiree 2016- Balephuil Commemoration and/or email me at balephuilcommemoration@gmail.com

I am hoping that Alexander Campbell and my GGGG Grandfather Dougald Campbell (born before 1768) might be related. Dougald's son John Campbell was one of the fishermen who did not survive the storm.  The story is told by Ian Smith on pg. 144 of the 2014 book The Secret Island - Towards a History of Tiree.  ISBN 978-1-907443-62-6
