William Cashen's Manx Folk Lore was originally published in 1912.

The electronic edition was first published in 2005 by Chiollagh Books of Onchan.

William Cashen was born at Dalby in 1838. He was educated at Dalby by a Mr Dubois from Galway. In 1853 he went to sea, and served his time on a brig called Ada, trading between Dublin and Whitehaven. William died on June 3rd, 1912 whilst at work as the Custodian of Peel Castle ... a job which he held for the last seventeen years of his life.
