Marie

Please google ''Bedford Gaol'' and then enter ''BELLAMY'' as some of your BELLAMYs are listed and it gives a description of them etc ...but too early for photos :(

O, that is inteteresting too...my Mum grew up in Kempston [her birth was 1924] and knew the BELLAMYs if you go to the other resource page for Bedfordshire you can get their listings in the the directories?  ;)

I have just had a word with my Mum and she says there was one more than one BELLAMY family and her school-friend was Celia BELLAMY and that family took in an evacuee child during the War but she doesn't know Celia's parents christian names.

Most of the families in Kempston took in a child I think...My Nan did and informally adopted her

My great, great grandfather was Frederick Bellamy. He was John Bellamy's younger brother born in around 1856

Their Mum and Dad was John and Ann. John was a stone digger and Ann was a lacemaker. they lived at 20 Bell End, Kempston which was to the left of the Half Moon Pub is in Kempston.

The siblings were:
William
Joel
Ann
James
John ( your relative)
Frederick (My relative)

Most of the family are buried in Kempston cemetary. Only Joel seems to have a gravestone.

I would love any more information you have or photo's.
