That's a really good website, Jennifer, I hadn't seen it before.

Thanks for mentioning it.

Dodds family tree guide will get you a lot of information -put in William Dodds, Alnwick. He married twice  Anne Darling and had four children, then again to Ester Scott and had two more.  You will find an error on the sheet as Henry Scott Dodds is also included as a son of the first marriage. William and Anne are is a several times great grandparents of mine  geraldine 77

I have often wondered how I could get in touch with you, as a novice genealogist to say thanks! I found out so much from what you shared on-line. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand and am a descendent of Mary Francis Dodds, the Iredales  and the Hindmarshes of Alnwick and Newcastle-on Tyne. There is one omission  - My great grandmother, Florence b. 1857 in Sydney, was the firstborn of W.H.Hindmarsh and Mary Francis Dodds. She married Arthur Pyne O'Callaghan in 1875 in NZ and had 11 children - so that is where I come in. I have found the story of these ancestors fascinating and have recently been interested to learn about the border reivers and connections of the Dodds,Hall and Scott families - not that I have traces any direct connections- Marie Woods

Geraldine,

Now that you have 3 posts you should be able to contact Kevin.  Below his name you will see 2 symbols, one looks like the top half of a person--that is the profile and next to it is a symbol like a piece of paper.  If you click on that you can send a personal message which only you and the person can see.  You can then send email addresses and such.

I wonder if I could have access to the Dodds family tree as well?

My grandfather, Charles Frederick Nutman (b 1878), married Eleanor Dodds (also born 1878).  Her parents were Robert Dodds (b 1847 Barrasford) and Ellen Chisholm (b 1846 Rockcliffe, Cumberland)

Don't know if there is a link.

Hello Geraldine,

Do you have a family tree online or are you able to send your link to your ancestors details in a reply message. I am interested to find out what the Hindmarsh's and Dodds family did in New Zealand. Any information would be really appreciated.

I can send you what information I was able to find out, if you are interested?

It would be great to also find out what happened to the Dodds family who went to New Zealand as well.

Kind Regards,
Kevin

I know about my immmediate branch - I have been side-tracked a lot with other branches of my family. I f you could indicate what you know I will send you  what I can. A lot of the familytree info that I have comes from you and Stewart Hindmarsh - i have his research here, and Papers PAst - a lot is anecdotal. I want to post things on-line eventually but time plus lack ocomputer skills is a factor. I know nothing about the Dodds here but perhaps I could follow up some links  - when I find any to start me off. geraldine77
