Hope the death cert helps but again only as good as the person giving the information. I don't see this marriage of Laurence 2 to Elizabeth.

No shortage of Laurence's marrying in Withiel either

Lawrence GROUDEN = Blanch ROBINS 24 Oct 1681
Lawrence GROUDEN = Mary PENNY 1 May 1714

and the one you mention

Laurence GROUDEN = Elizabeth VANSON 21 Jan 1719
the 4 baptisms you mention in Withiel all listed as GRONDEN

Just to confuse I do see

Laurence GROWDEN = Jone THOMAS 3 Jan 1747 Crowan

There is a Jone THOMAS baptised 14 Mar 1724 Father Wm Crowan

Wm THOMAS = Elianor his wife 21 May 1718 Crowan

Baptisms at Crowan Parents Lawrance and Jone GROWDAN

Jane 28 Aug 1748
Elizabeth 28 Aug 1748

Baptisms at Withiel parents Laurence and Joanna GRONDEN

Laurence 9 Dec 1750
William 25 Dec 1752
Joanna 25 May 1755
Mathew 17 Jun 1759

Also see Baptism Lanivet Parents Laurence and Joanna GROUDEN

George 21 Jul 1765

Hasn't helped at all with this Laurence and Elizabeth Unknown. Sorry I am not having any luck with a second Grace I am afraid. I see the other 3 baptisms you mention with parents Laurence and Elizabeth but not a Grace

Cheers Kris  :D

Thankyou Kris for all this information :D,

I'm sure the Grouden/Growden/Gronden baptisms and marriages are related in some way, so will file them away for future reference.

Taking everything into consideration,  I am leaning toward Grace who was baptised in 1759, with parents, Joseph Growden and Grace Jeffery, being my 4x great grandparents.

I really appreciate the time you have spent on this,

Kind regards

Margaret :)

I am interested in making contact, as we are trying to tie together all the GROWDEN/GROWDON/GROUDEN families of Cornwall, most of whom seem to be related.
HAYES - Bristol & Somerset
STOOKE - Bristol & Devon
GROWDEN, SANDERCOCK - Cornwall & worldwide
VAUSE - Humberside & South Africa
HANNAN - Glasgow & Ayrshire
COTTAM, BAGOT - Lancashire
GREENAWAY - Cornwall, South Africa
PEARSON, ELLWOOD - Cumbria

Hi Margaret.
I came across this thread while searching for Growden/Grouden.
I think I have successfully traced back as far as William Growden who married Elizabeth Couch Saundercock/Sandercock at Cardinham in 1792. I believe this is the William Growden who died 1832 at “Higher Bore Street” Bodmin, aged 81.
That would make his birth about 1751.
There are 2 baptisms listed on OPC for William Growden, both at Withiel:
25 Dec 1752 - parents Lawrence and Joanna
15 May 1755 - parents Joseph and Grace

I need to do some more digging to see if any sibling names or maternal surnames pop up in later generations to distinguish which is right.
