Fawn Search
« on: Sunday 22 July 07 10:40 BST (UK) »
Some new names have appeared in my search for ancestors. I have a John Fawn who was a Master Blacksmith of Whaplode Fen. He had a daughter  - Annie Fawn born 1871- who married Samuel Arthur Bradley (born 1871) at the United Free Methodist Chapel, Holbeach on the 1st January 1906. There is also a S.E. Fawn (female) who was a Sunday School teacher at Whaplode St Catherines in July 1875. I think this may have been the month of her 21st birthday. Has any one else got this family in their search ?

Thanks for all the information. As regards Annie not appearing on 1891 census I  think she had moved from the family home after her father John remarried.  On previous census reports she had been shown as Ann (1871 age 1) so I think after her mothers death in 1880 she looked after things at home. She was a wonderful lady who helped to look after me during the war years and until her death in the late 1940's . Also I believe you may have solved another problem, regarding the Sunday School Teacher and a chapel at Whaplode St Catherines. Reading between the lines it would appear that John Molesworth donated the land for the building of the Chapel (now long gone, but where I went to services and Harvest Festivals etc) and his daughter Sarah Ellen Molesworth was the Sunday School Teacher. Sarah Ellen was the mother of Annie Fawn. I have actually got in my possession a silver jug which was presented to Sarah Ellen in 1875 when she was a Sunday School Teacher at the previously mentioned chape.
Now I have to try and find some detail of Annie's husband Samuel Arthur Bradley who was born in 1881.  Again many thanks

Tibby

Hi Tibby,

My husband is a direct descendant of John Molesworth (Sarah Ellen's father) through John Joseph, Sarah Ellen's brother. It was lovely to read about the chapel.

Best wishes
Jackie
