I found an ancestors marriage record in Coatbridge Scotland on Scotlandspeople. This is the way it is recorded, has anyone heard of it or tell me what it should be

Hi sancti,

What denomination were your McAhruie ancestors and what date was on their marriage record? The name may possibly have been Carew with a prefix.

Have  a Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year.

They were RC and married in St Patricks, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire

Other spelling I have for her father is John Mc Inruie who married Elizabeth Teven

Hello sancti,

I think there's an incorrect spelling floating around. Mc Inruie doesn't appear in Griffiths Valuations (on John Hayes failteromhat.com website) although maybe maybe the family wasn't in Ireland at that time.

I tried McInr ... and found the following in Co. Clare.

Michael Mc Inrehy, Kilconnell, Kilmacrehy. Clare
John Mc Inreney, Binvoran, Kilmurry. Clare
Michael Mc Inreney, Binvoran, Kilmurry. Clare

There's also a long list of people named Mc Inroe. If you could find out if other families from Co. Clare attended St Patricks that would help.

Mary Ann McAhruie (sp) married in Coatbridge in 1884 aged 20 according to the record on SP. Her parents were John McAhruie and Elizabeth Teven

I dont know when she arrived from Ireland or if she came on her own.

The 1891 census only gives her place of birth as Ireland

Hi sancti,

I have the impression Mary Ann may have been an uneducated Irish woman who couldn't read or write. There were no families named Teven listed in Griffiths Valuation of Ireland 1848-64. The nearest names were ... Tevenan, Tevenehan or Tevens.

Sancti- do you have Mary Ann's death certificate? or birth certificates of any children? maybe there's a 'better' attempt at spelling later on.

She married James McGovern in 1884 with parent names McAhruie and Teven

Her husband James registered her death in Coatbridge in 1927 and gave the same names.

I tried the 1881 census but couldn't find her
