Think yours is an old post - so you may have this.
This John Harkness is in my tree (I believe)
Born at Middlebie in c.1807 to John Harkness (b. 1783) and Mary Little ( b.1780) who lived at Stidriggburn near Corrie Common. He an agricultural labourer.
Mary born to William Little and Mary Bell (no dates)
John Harkness born to Thomas Harkness and Ann Nicol in 1783 in Canonbie Parish.
Still working on this...

Hello
I think we have a different Mary Harkness. Ours was born in 1806 in the Parish of Hutton & Corrie to John Harkness (1783-1859) and Mary Little (1780-1858). She married John Patterson (who died in 1851) and by him had two children: Mary Patterson (b.1838) and John Patterson (b.1840). Their widowed mother died
in 1877 in Lockerbie - though this last is yet uncertain
