Alexander Pratt and Janet Kay- Kirkwynd, Cupar

Can anyone connect to this family?

Alexander Pratt and Janet Kay were married 1863.  Alexander was a Maltster Journeyman and later a labourer and baker. An Isabella Pratt was a witness at the wedding and there is an Isabella living a couple of door up, on a census.

Alexander was the son of Alexander Pratt and Elizabeth Lonie, of Cupar.
He died 1907 at 4 Kirkwynd.

Janet Kay was the daughter of David Kay and Euphemia Pratt. She died in 1905 at 4 Kirkwynd

Known children were: twins Jemima Strath and Janet in 1875 - Janet deceased at 5 months.
David born 1874.

David married Lillias Patrick in 1894. He was a carter living at 4 Kirkwynd, Cupar. Lillias' parents were, John and Christina nee Hunter. Lillias is down as living at Kirkwynd as a domestic servant.

In the 1881 census the family was living in Bank st and Jemima is named Joanna - aged 5.

Hi my wife's family tree include both names Pratt and Lonie.  Her family starts with James Lonie born abt 1806 in Fife, his daughters name was Eliza born abt 1830 in Cupar.  Also her Pratt family starts with James Pratt born abt 1801 Fife and his daughter's name was Catherine born abt 1826 in Largo Fife.  Hope there is connection some where.  If you need more information please pm me.  Djcr

I can't see a connection. There were a lot of Pratt's and Lonie's in Fife and Fife is a big place. I can't trace any of my early ones out of Cupar.

My key lies in finding the parents of Alex and Elizabeth.

On the marriage cert for them there is a David Lonie who married two months earlier. It could have been a brother.

I seem to recall that Janet Kay's mother was Euphemia Pratt.
