First Name Abreviations

Hi all,

Just a quicky today.

Wm Clayton = William Clayton
Hy Brown = Henry Brown
Rw L Saywell = ?????????????

Any ideas what Rw stands for? I've had a quick look round the internet but so far no luck.
Bradford / Leeds :- Rowntree, Gillings, Clayton, Wood, Hopkinson.
Wolverhampton :- Littleton, Pearson, Evans, Leighton.

Your right with the others, but I havent a clue  :-\ with RW? The only male names I can think of with those 2 letters are: Renfrew, Rowan, Rawlins & Renwick,

I just thought I'd post this on here so you can all read it for yourself.

I'm sure that says Rw.

It's "Ricd." = Richard.

Could it not maybe be "Revd." = Reverend

Go with Jen - there is no L - Ric'd
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

I do transcribing for FreeCEN and that is how Richard is always abbreviated.
