I am looking for information on the above families in the very early 1800s. Anything, no matter how tenuous, will be appreciated.

Would this fit into your family somehow?
(Edith) Alice Collins, born 8 July 1881, possibly a nurse, m. Leslie Irwin, farmer, Ballyness? Three children born in Ireland (1909-1919)- not sure if any are still alive. 1912- Leslie Irwin, Turgoland, Dungiven. I'm told the family went to Canada.
Alice Collins was a daughter of Samuel Collins, Sistrakeel then Derryork, & his 1st wife Mary Jane Gilmore.
Don't have Irwin-Collins marriage.
Have note of a Leslie Irwin born 30 Oct.1867 Dungiven dist., son of John Irwin & Jane Ramsay, but not sure if this is same person.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello aghadowey,
Many thanks for your reply but unfortunately they are not the people I am looking for. According to the 1740 Religous census there were no Stewarts in the Dungiven area but by 1766 there were three, George,John and Anthony. I am particularly intersted in the first two as they are family names. The Flax Growers register lists George and William, another family name and the 1831 census lists George and Robert, yet another family name,in Gortgarn. I am trying to find a link for these names.

Hi Mary,
There is a faint chance it may  be relevant but my GGfather married Elizabeth Irwin who I believe came from the Dungiven area, possibly Drumaduff. There is a family tradition that the Stewarts came from the Garvagh area but I think this was in the latter half of the18th centuary. Many thanks for your interest.

Hi Mary,
Names I know, George Stewart (b1815) married Elizabeth Irwin (b1813)
Alexander Morrison ( b about 1815) married Margaret Haslett (b1815). These are my Ggrandparents and I am sure of them. Other names on the Stewart side are more tenuous: Family names are George, Robert, John and Isaac. Any help will be appreciated.
