I took some photos of both headstones today but I'm having a problem with downloading them. The Rutherglen 1 is large and made of sandstone and some of the lettering is worn. It looks like Lachlan Campbell MacIntyre

To all who contributed to my request a big thank you. Special thanks to  :) sancti  :) who has gone way beyond all expectations.  So much effort for a stranger on the other side of the world is mind blowing.
All will be treasured for many years to come not only by myself but future generations.

I think the Laigh Braehead mentioned on the headstone is in Thorntonhall just outside East Kilbride

Hi sancti,
You keep surprising me with more information. Can you translate Laigh Braehead, sounds to me like it may be Gaelic. Also is Thorntonhall a village ?

Regards from a very happy
Mackiwi  :) :)

It would have been a village back then but is becoming closer to East Kilbride every year.

Hi,  I was wondering if anyone knows of Woodburn Lodge  Rutherglen around 1860s 70s and what it was?  Its my great grandparents address on their marriage lines....  His name was William Smith.  His father John Smith was a gardener at Woodburn Lodge.  Williams bride Helen was a domestic servant there.

Many thanks x
