My great grandfather, Allan Thomas Quarrie came from the isle of man. He lived in Kirkby nr Liverpool, which was a small farming village at that time. He married Kate Appleton in  1889 and they had   8 children. They were Dick Joe Ted Allan Bill Fred Maggie Annie and Alice. I think they had two more other children, but they died in infancy.

A second cousin on the Appleton side of the family has traced the start of the families back to 1748.

I hope this will be of some help to you.

NOT ONE REPONSE !!!!
David

Hello,
I am a descendant of John Quarrie - in angi0's first post in this topic, they quote from the census data for 1851 - the John listed as being 10 years old at this time emigrated to New Zealand on the vessel 'Telegraph' in 1863 - he married one Anne Jane Dianne Hall in 1875 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Several years ago I found information on-line (I forget where - but I do recall it was a Manx site) that linked the material I had with the material about the Quarries on the Manx site - the name of the ship and the date of arrival of John Quarrie.  There was sufficient overlap of my information with this material that I consider the link to be firmly established.

A cousin of mine may have further information - but for all I know, I may be replying to my cousin's topic...
Godfrey, Elliott, Carson, Richards, Chaplin, Quarrie

I've been investigating the Manx Towle's and for some reason have a couple of photographs labelled as 'Mary Hardy'.....A guess would put the images about late 1800's to early 1900's, not sure how many Mary Hardy's there have been on island - I'll dig it out and post you can decide for yourselves if it's someone you're talking about.......and.......what her connection to the Towle's was if it is??

the backs of the photo is often a useful dating mechanism (see under photographers on www.manxnotebook.com) - theTowles seemed to be a Ramsey based family most born in England who arrived on Island c.1864 - Mary Towle or Mrs Towle noted in a couple of directories - a son Frederick Huxley is noted as having d in 1894 age 23 in Manitoba
