Hi,

I've found a possible for your Selina Annie and William om the 1901 census.  Selina is using her middle name (which wasn't unusual) and her age is slightly out - but think she was trying to look older than she was due to hubby's age  :o

6 Stourbridge Road, Dudley

William Jones, 64yrs House Painter born Cheltenham
Annie Jones, 29yrs born Wombourne, Staffs
George Jones, 10yrs (was he from a previous marriage of Williams?)
Elsie Jones, 2yrs

Let me know what you think

Helen x

William seemed to like his ladies young.  I've found him on the 1891 census with wife Eliza.  He is 54 and she is 37!

Hope I'm on the right track here

That's the one . . . married Elizabeth BRUCE, 27 Apr 1751, Wombourne

Below are the relevant BRUCE's from Wombourn (and one next door in Albrighton):

Samuel Corns = Elizabeth Bruce, 27 Apr  1751, Wombourn
- Benjamin Cornes, 14 Mar 1751
- Jane Cornes, 20 Apr 1754
- Henry Corns, 30 Oct 1756
- Mary Cornes, 2 Aug 1760
* Hannah Corns, 8 Jun 1765
- Sarah Cornes, 18 Oct 1769
- Samuel Cornes, 26 Nov 1774

John Corns = Rachel
* Samuel Corns, b. 27 Nov 1725, c. 5 Dec 1725
- John Corns, 22 Apr 1728, bur. 14 Nov 1806
- Benjamin Corns, 26 May 1733
- Richard Corns, 21 Feb 1735
- William Corns, 23 Sep 1738
- Daniel Corns, 19 Apr 1741

Richard Corns = Ann Cartwright, 1 Dec 1700, Wombourne
- Mary & Hannah Corns, b. 17 May 1701, c. 17 May 1701, bur. 19 May 1701
* John Corns, b. 1 Jun 1702, c. 6 Jun 1702
- Katherine Corns, b. 21 Feb 1704, c. 3 Mar 1704
- Ann Corns, c. 16 Jan 1707, c. 16 Jan 1707
- Mary Cornes, b. 28 Oct 1710, c. 1 Nov 1710
- Sarah Corns, 31 May 1713
- Hannah Corns, 27 Jan 1716
- Jane Corns, b. 18 Sep 1720, c. 18 Sep 1720, bur. 2 Oct 1720
- Jane & Esther Corns, b. 10 Jun 1722, c. 11 Jun 1722.  Esther bur. 12 Jun 1722

Richard Cornes = Thomasin
- Elizabeth, 30 Nov 1669, d. of Richard Cornes & Thomasin bap.
- Thomas, 28 Apr 1672, s. Richard Cornes & Thomasin bap.
* Richard, 25 Oct 1674, Albrighton near Wolverhampton
- John, 21 Jan 1676, s. of Richard Cornes & Thomasin bap.
- Marie, 29 Jan 1679, d. of Richard Cornes & Timasin bap.
- Matthias, 24 Feb 1682
- Willm, 4 Jul 1686

There are two possibilites for Richard:
- Richard CORNES, c. 1637, Stoke on Trent

This lot are all from the IGI, so some serious checking is needed, but I haven't made it to the Staffs Record Office yet

wow wow wow all this info since I logged on yesterday many many thanks all.Funny how things work out. My Ruth Corns moved with her husband to Newark Notts for work and 60 years later my husband and I moved to Albrighton also for work.....back "home" now though.
Yes Helen, William was a bit of a dirty old man all these young girls, maybe he was very dishy or well off!! Many thanks for finding them I think it becomes a case of not being able to see the wood for the trees after so long.

Hi, I'm Larkspur's cousin.

The Samuel Corns who married Elizabeth Bruce had a daughter, Jane, b1754.  She married Edward Cartwright (who was probably a cousin) and had a daughter, Jane, b1779.  This Jane married William Stevens, and their daughter Elinor married Henry Corns (1801 - 1876).  Their son Joseph is my and Larkspur's 2xgt grandpa.
