William Humphrey Williams born 1865 Harlech, Llandanwg

Hello,

Are you related to my ancestor above ? he was born in 1865 in Harlech but Llanfihangel Y Traethau is also mentioned.

He was a seaman on the ship the Dovey Belle and was married to a Lucy Ann Naylor.

His parents names were Robert Jones Williams and Jannet Williams they lived in Llandanwg and Harlech.

My ancestor was one of 8 children, their names were,

Jannet
Margaret
John
Robert
Humphrey
William Humphrey  ( who died young )
William Humphrey ( my ancestor )
Maria.

William Humphrey died in 1850 in Llanfair,  him and Lucy had  6 children,
Jannet ( my ancestor )
Lucy Hannah
Margaret
Robert
Katurah
Humphrey.

The descendents of some of these siblings still live in Merionethshire today,  but unfortunatley I am not in touch.

Just come accross your post whilst googling some family names!  My ancestor from your list is Humphrey - son of William Humphrey Williams and Lucy Ann Naylor.

Can you give some more information spread over 2 postings so that you are contactable by Personal Message. I suspect that an uncle of mine married into that family c. 1920s. I will make enquiries of the only remaining cousin of mine from that family, and get back to both of you.

Hi Carino,
On studying Census and BMD records it would appear that I'm correct in saying that one of my mother's brothers, David G Evans, married Lucy H Williams in Q3 1920, a Civil marriage, Festiniog Registration District. They had a number of children; only 1 survives. I'll send you a PM with more details.

An update for anybody other than Carino who has an interest in this topic. I've been in touch with Carino by e-mail and can confirm that Lucy Hannah was my aunt thro' marriage to David G Evans, one of my mother's brothers. I now have my surviving cousin's telephone number, and will contact her this week.

See posting David G Evans on Merionethshire board. Only noticed it last night !
Spoken to my cousin tonight. She doesn't use a computer and will have a word with her daughter re. making contact. She's busy at the moment - family wedding in a couple of weeks.
