You may mean Hartfield Crescent School in Birmingham - notice slightly different spelling. I attended Acocks Green Council School between 1932 and 1941. But some time after the war started in 1939 Acocks Green School became a gas dressing station, a kind of war hospital, so we had to attend Hartfield Crescent School instead. During this period we would attend Hartfield for the morning on one week and the afternoon the next week. The Hartfield pupils took the other half day!

I left school at 14 and joined the Royal Navy at 16. If I can help further please let me know.

My mom went to Hartfield Crescent School around the outbreak of the 2nd WW. She and her famiy lived in nearbyOakhill Crescent, Acocks Green, Birmingham. I think she told me she left at the age of 14yrs and I vaguely remember seeing a report from her school noting her attendance during a period of voluntary attendance which I assume was during the war.

I went to Harrison Barrow Grammar school, which was on the same site as Hartfield Crescent .
The grammar school had only been open for about 6 or 7 years when I started is September 1956.

I heard years later that the 2 schools were amalgamated into a comprehensive.
