Hi, I am looking for the parents of Myles Gillbanks born 1859 at Kirkby Ireleth, in the Furness area of Lancashire, he was probably baptised at St. Cuthbert, Beckside. Any information gratefully received.

Not sure if you have this, but he is with his grandparents in 1861. Some of family are transcribed as Gillbanser and some Gillbanks but they all look like Gillbanks on original

I got a copy of James Gillbanks 1852 ( brothers Roger (1854) and Myles Walmsley (1859) birth certificate and his Mother Elizabeth Gillbanks born 1 Jun 1827 and she did not provide a name for the father or his occupation there was just a dash in column for those.
It is a bit of a mystery isn't it?

Hi Dianelakes, renewed my search and have found that there was a Myles Walmsley born Cartmel, Lancashire in 1805 living in the same area of Dalton as Elizabeth Gillbanks in 1851 and 1861, that certainly points to a possible Father, although he was married at the time., Regards, Jim.

In my search I found that Elizabeth died in 1860 and it seems grand parents brought them up when I looked at the 1861 census but they also had a granddaughter aged 9 Jane Jonesborn in London with them. I hav e no idea who she is.

Hi Dianelakes, I have tried to find out who she is, she was born London in 1852-3 apparently, and John and Betty's daughter Isabella born 1825 married Henry Collyer and lived in London, but apart from that there is no other connection to London that I know of. If you don't mind me asking, where is your connection to the Gillbanks families?
