Banham - location of Hardwick Green?
« on: Saturday 01 September 07 18:57 BST (UK) »
Does anybody know where Hardwick Green would have been?  Judging from censuses, it seems likely to have been on the outskirts of Banham, close to Doe Lane and Snailgate Road (I can't trace Snailgate Road on any maps, either).

Thanks.

There is a Hardwicke in the area that I'm interested in. Names do change over time I have found especially in this area. Its north of Pulham and right next to Shelton.
West, Alexander, Banham, Balchin.

The Hardwick near Pulham & Shelton is a separate village, some miles away.

There was indeed an area or road within Banham itself that used to be called Hardwick Green in centuries past, but I'm afraid I can't throw any light on which it is, I'd dearly like to know myself.

Hardwick Road in Banham is now called New Buckenham Road.  Snailgate is the old name for Mill Road.
