I don't know exactly what was being noted on the census, but 'nesa' is often a speech abbreviation of 'nesaf', meaning 'next'. The word was used in the phrase
"pobl drws nesaf" = 'the people next door ' and when spoken the final 'f' of nesaf was often dropped.
Sincerely,
Rachel Bowen

Hi Rachel,

Thank you, thank you :P

You are brilliant, and might have solved my problem.

The old couple (69 & 70) next door have various grandchildren staying with them, so maybe my rellies were helping out with the two year old.

I am off to try and find a family connection now ;D

Glad to have been of help.

I live in France now, and although I have relatives in both North and South Wales, I like to see what is going on in the various geneology forums.

Don't hesitate to ask anything else if you think I might b able to help.

Sincerely,
Rachel Bowen
