My greatgrandfather migrated from Dundee and arrived in Tasmania Australia about 1830, on his death certificate it only gives his mother,s name as Sophia Ramsey.

To clarify re: David Ramsay's arrival in Tasmania as a convict, these are the basics...
- 1821 19th April Tried at Aberdeen Height: 5/2, Hair: Brown, Eyes: Hazel, Age: 25, Occupation: Sail Maker, From: Dundee, Marks &c: Scar on left wrist, lilt left leg, Sentence: 7 years for "theft"
- 1821 15th December Arrived in Hobart aboard the Claudine, having departed London 20th May 1821, leaving his mother, wife Elizabeth & 1 child in Dundee, Scotland
- 1826 21st September "Absent from muster & church Sunday last"
- 1833 29th October "Charged with stealing a Cedar Board, dismissed"
- 1834 24th November Widower, married Dinah Bates, Spinster in Hobart
- 1850 16th August Departed Launceston on the Shamrock, bound for Melbourne, having been granted the status of "Free by servitude"
