My great great grandparents on my mother's mother side were Robert and Hannah (Laurie) Forrest. I think we might be related. I am researching my Forrest family and that has brought me here.

After reading all this thread, this is definitely my Forrest family. I hope some of you will come on here again, as I notice no one has posted for a while.

Re-Forrest family as Mill Owners. The Corn Mill which stood on Calder Water in Plains by Airdrie was owned by the Forrest Family.

This is a reply to the person on this thread called Joycey.
My grandmother was Jane (Jean) Forrest, born in Whitburn in 1900. Her father was John Lawrie Forrest and mother was Mary Forrest, nee Watson.
John’s parents were Robert Forrest and Hannah Lawrie, so we must be related. I have my gran’s birth certificate and her parents marriage certificate.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Roz

Hello Alan,
I was on this site a few years ago. My gt gt grandparents were Robert Forrest and Hannah Lawrie.
We must be related. Margaret must be the sister of John Forrest, unless she was from the second marriage. John and Mary Forrest (nee Watson) were my gt grandparents.
Roz

Milling ran in families & their sons often had to move a long way from home to find a mill & follow their trade. A John Forrest was the miller of St Martin's Mill near Perth in 1919 & a Mr Forrest of Gimmers Mill, Haddington in 1775 found his mill inundated by floodwater & saved himself by climbing into a pear tree till the waters subsided.  ;D

Skoosh.

Hi folks,
I realise this is an old thread that has been resurrected, but I think a lot of you are connected, and hope that at least some of you are still active.

As part of my general Forrest research, I get this line back to at least Alexander Forrest b ca1812 West Lothian and Christian/Christina Liddell/Liddle b 1812 Slamannan, Stirlingshire.
(not to my Forrest line though, unless it goes really far back before the 1700s).

I suspect this line goes back to Rev David Forrest 1723-1776

I hope you can all connect.  Have any of you done any DNA testing?

Dave.

John Forrest m Mary Watson
Robert Forrest m Hannah Laurie/Lawrie
Alexander Forrest m Christian/Christina Liddle/Liddell
