oooh! that is interesting, and explains why I cant find them in 1851

Robert (the son) was married in 1849, and I have the certificate, I'll have to dig it out check the exact date and check whether Robert (the father is listed as deceased).
I guess Ann could have married again, making her almost impossible to find.

Thanks for your efforts,
Buckaroo

I would have thought it not too difficult to find a marriage if there was one since I've often found names on certificates more carefully done than on censuses where there are obviously more chances of errors.  No marriages appear to have been transcribed anyway, but there is a possible death in Q2 1861 Pancras 1b 31, the others seem more unlikely because of location.  Again, pity ages weren't given at that time.

All in all I suspect Ann should be around in 1851 but that makes a lot of Anns to search through since her age could be anywhere between 50-55 based on the "rounding down" in 1841.

oodles of info! thank you Mary & Geoff,

Think I'll have to sketch out a time line and put on all the info I've gathered to try and thrash it out.  Is it just me or does everyone need to go 'just one step further, and then I'll be happy'  ??

I started off this line of research thinking that the name 'Slaymaker' being unusual would be easier to follow, more fool me ehh!

Just thinking,

does anyone have access to directories or such like,

if so would it be possible to look for market gardners or fruiterers by the name of Slaymaker?

could be interesting!

Thx in advance

:D excellent ! thank you Sylvaiaann!

does it give any other details?

I'll have to find out who this Thomas is, as he isnt in my tree (yet!), but a couple of generations of this family were fruiterers in Covent Garden.

There must be a connection!!!
