Wow!! Huge vote of confidence for Dacey :) There's no goin' back now, because I've decided to enter it into my Family History program. Mary Dacey is now on the net for all to see.

I'm going to be controversial and say DALEY is a very common Irish name - I know the "L" isn't the same as in formerly but it looks like a capital "L".  If it was a "C" then the stroke from the "A" would go "north east" to form the top curve of the "C" :-\

Just an opinion :)

Celia -
Interesting!! However, my Mary Dacey married Francis Burke. However (again!!) the time period and location appears accurate as Mary and Francis' first born child Catherine Burke, was born 1867 in Birmingham. The couple's other three children were born in Birmingham also. Is there anyway, perhaps, that Farrell could be a nickname or even a mistranscription for Francis (as odd as it may sound!!)

Casalguidi -
Although I appreciate and respect your opinion I'm afraid I cannot agree with you on this one. Sorry ;)

Sounds too much of a co-incidence to me  :o. First it would be worth getting lookups for 1861 and 1871 on these names to get more of an idea if they could possibly be correct, any volunteers?  :P The only real way of knowing will be getting the marriage cert and checking!  :-\
Remember that at that time period quite a few people started to change middle and first names around, as fashion dictated. I have lots of people in my family that did that as they regarded their biblical or number name as far too un-trendy. Even got some who changed their names completely as they were illiterate.
All lookups are crown copyright

Thank you for your help, Geoff and Nicky. I also have them in 1881 and in 1891. Francis had died in this period. I also notice a baby Mary. She must have died very young as she was no with them on the 1881.

Thanks again ;D
